Hardly Working or Working Hard?
Concrete has been poured and structural steel beams are going up, really giving students a view of what the Karl and Stevie Eller Professional Development Center will look like. This past week there have been major construction projects going on such as the elevator pit. Have you heard all the noise? That’s just the start of the new PDC for Eller students, but who is to thank? This project is all donor funded, with a large contribution by Karl & Stevie Eller. The project has been under construction since mid-December by Lloyd Construction and the framework for the new building is underway. Can’t you tell they have been working so hard to make Eller a better experience for all of us?

Donation Dollars at Work

“This weeks work is about $45,000, steel is up in the air now”, said Project Manager Paul Pena. The main costs for this past week included the concrete and water proofing for the main level. The steel has gone up, and the main building structures have become visible since our meeting with Paul last week. An update on the project costs, including the steel, will be provided in next weeks blog.

Karl and Stevie Eller

Karl and Stevie Eller

Karl & Stevie Eller
Eller College of Management would not be the extraordinary business school it is today without the hard work and ethics of Karl and Stevie Eller. Both Karl and Stevie are University of Arizona alumni, and college sweethearts, married now for 48 years, who show unwavering love for each other, and their university.

Karl has served in many different roles in the business world including CEO of Gannett Company and Columbia Pictures, Chairman and CEO of Circle K Corporation, and currently serves as Chairman and CEO of Eller Media Company, also serving as a role model for many students entering the Eller College of Management. Stevie has served as en education professional in Arizona as well as a community activist on a national level and has been recruited by multiple United States Presidents to serve on national committees and boards. Stevie also serves as a wonderful role model for Eller students to give back to the community.

We want to express our appreciation for your generosity in support of the Karl and Stevie Eller Professional Development Center. Your contribution was incredibly helpful and will allow the PDC to promote the future successes of Eller Students. Both of us had such helpful advisors through undergrad and our Eller careers and are glad to see they’ll be receiving the new offices they deserve in the new PDC. Eller’s advisors attribute to their students’ success and Josh and I are no exception. I know my Eller experience would have been much different if it weren’t for their kindness and caring for the students they advise. Your assistance means so much to the both of us and even more to the future students of the Eller College of Management. Thank you.

Worker Spotlight

Chris Robertson

Chris Robertson

Chris Robertson is the Project Engineer for the PDC project. Chris started out as a laborer for Lloyd Construction and when Paul realized Chris was interested in more of the logistics of their projects he promoted him to his new position. This is Chris’ first project in his positions and he’s been doing great so far, completing much of this past week’s work himself. We’re excited to see what else Chris contributes to this project.
